The Consumer Council of Norway, the Norwegian Photo Council and ICT Norway have developed a standard for secure storage of photos online (OBS!). Companies associated with the norm are required to store customer's photos in a safe and secure manner.
A variety of companies offer their customers online photo storage. To ensure that holiday and family photos kept safely and that customers can rely on storage services practices, The Consumer Council of Norway and the photo industry has developed a standard for secure online storage.
Album2 and Euro Photo have served as test users in the work of the norm, and are the first that meets the stringent conditions set by norm. They are thus entitled to the "OBS! -stamp" on their services.
Storing photos on the net do not differ significantly from the storage of other electronic content. The Consumer Council and the ICT-Norway will in the future work to ensure that the norm also also applies for storage of other content online, such as music, films and documents.
The standard does not differentiate between paid and non-paid services.
